I don't know why I keep doing it. I relax, I think I'm among friends, I tentatively bring out an idea that's close to my heart and I watch someone jumping up and down on the tiny shining thing because they choose to believe I've said something quite different. I don't think "Wouldn't it be nice if we could change our attitudes to the way we think about work and creativity" is quite the same as "Creative people should be let off work and everyone else should support them"; but I daresay I read old books of logic. Anyway, I don't suppose it would have cost me so much sleep if I wasn't still raw over the other thing, but as it is I don't even have the energy to be offended over what kind of person they obviously think I am.

Sorry for wasting everyone's time.

I downloaded the demo of the fifth and final game in the Myst series last night and had a go. It looks a little different from previous games, being what’s called “real-time 3D” rather than “pre-rendered,” but the graphics look fine to me, and wonder of wonders it runs on my machine. I’m daring to hope that means the game itself will.

Agh! Slight spoilers! Quick, Nurse, the cut-tags! )

So I got to thinking about Popeye on Myst island, and trying to imagine that constant running commentary he used to keep up, which was probably improvised by someone cleverer than me, blast it. (I could never listen fast enough to catch more than a fraction of it.) And from marvelling at that I started imagining an encounter between Popeye and Gollum, and wondering whether they’d ever get around to talking to each other.

That’s it. See, I’m feeling better already.

Smallship1 in What a World Wants
[livejournal.com profile] smallship1 (Tommy Lee Jones) has nine days to convince the public that he's as good as he thinks he is. Filled with laugh-out-loud drama, his personal life is in tatters, and [livejournal.com profile] axylides, his publicist (Uma Thurman), is implicated in an international scandal. [livejournal.com profile] soren_nyrond (Jerry Stiller) cooks up the control of a major corporation. Given more time, this would be an even longer movie.
