A touch of the Noël Cowards, I think. Inspired by a FB comment.

How I Wish I Had Been Born A CEO

Verse
In days of old
Nobility was key
If you were descended from the Conqueror
The world was yours for free
You could horsewhip any peasant
Who dared to stand upright
And exercise your droit de seigneur each and every night
But times have changed
And noble blood is thinning
It's lost its underpinning
More sinned against than sinning
And success in trade and commerce is now seen to be the thing
So hail the new nobility, get down on your knees and sing...

Chorus
How I wish I had been born a CEO
For they're a very special breed of men, you know (and women)
They've got superhuman powers that the rest of us admire
Especially when we're rescuing their chestnuts from the fire
They're the next wave
Of human evolution
Even though they cause pollution
And quite likely revolution
And in that eventuality
They'll be the first to go
Still I wish I had been born a CEO!

Verse
It's sad but true
Bosses are born, not made
It doesn't matter how hard you work, you'll never make the grade
Unless you have that certain gene for spinning straw to gold
You'll always be one of the hoi polloi who's stuck out in the cold
The rich are rich
Because they darn well earn it
No matter if they burn it
Or simply don't return it
And whatever crimes they've perpetrated, now they've made their pile,
They'll never be brought to justice, so bend over and try to smile...

Chorus
How I wish I had been born a CEO
With the power to take some cash and make it grow
It must be a kind of magic, for how else can you explain
The way their money goes into the bank while mine goes down the drain
They're a proud race
Deserving of their grandeur
(I'd speak with greater candour
But I'd be up for slander)
And their telephone number salaries
Are really far too low
So I wish I had been born a CEO!

Chorus
How I wish I had been born a CEO
They're the nearest thing to godhood here below
How dare we be ungrateful, we should tender humble thanks
For the rare and precious privilege of bailing out their banks
They're like rock stars
Just watch them preen and swagger
Like Elvis or like Jagger
If he'd been a carpet-bagger
They're the epitome of celebrity
And to them our lives we owe
So I wish I had been born a CEO
(Like Gordon Gekko)
Yes, I wish I had been born a CEO
(Or Alan Sugar)
Yes, I wish I had been born a CEO!

Across the sea
They had a dream
No king would have their say
With sticks and rocks and muskets
They all fought to have their way
And now the strings are pulled
By the industrial giants of yore
Whose children lie and cheat and steal
And buy votes on the floor
But no one cares
About the Illuminati
As long as they have bodies
And water in their potties
And no one cares when television coos about their gold
For they know full well the real wealth is found in what's untold

'Cause anyone can call themselves a CEO
It's not through what you make but what you know
And now in the digital age they want to know your name
And who you are and what you think and what's your little game
For they who hoard
All of the information
About the population
Will now control the nation
And the little guy falls silent 'cause he knows
That the Grid is what rules o'er the CEO
