Yes, I've done some Bitstrips.
Nov. 3rd, 2013 12:08 pmBut I didn't, like, inhale or anything...
I like Bitstrips. If you haven't seen them, they're pre-made cartoon scenes into which you can insert avatars of yourself and Facebook friends, and they have captions which (I discovered after the first three) you can edit. As I said when I posted my second, they're almost as much fun as actually being creative and a lot easier, and they help to make what has been for me an increasingly unpleasant FB experience fun again. (I don't like having arguments, I don't like finding out that depressing things are going on and nobody can stop them, I don't like finding out that people I consider friends have opinions that make me want to scream, and I don't like attempts to guilt me for things I don't do, don't agree with and am not responsible for.)
Some people, as
autographedcat has pointed out, are all up in arms about how silly Bitstrips are and will go to some lengths to tell everyone just how much they're not interested in them; others just quietly exercise their option to hide all Bitstrips posts and carry on untroubled. Me, I'm going to keep on with them at least till they become less "cool," at which point hopefully their overloaded website will start working again and I can find out if there is actually an option to make one's own scenes. (New ones turn up every day, so someone's doing it.) At which point I will either become much more interested, or taper off gradually to just the occasional one that tickles me, depending on the answer.
So, that's that.
The next episode of OIK will be up on avevale.org in the next couple of hours, and will be announced in the usual way.
