avevale_intelligencer...I resolve to be kinder to people.
The specific form of kindness I am contemplating is a resolve never, ever to climb on to a soapbox labelled "MOREL HI GROWND" and exhort people, directly or by implication, not to feel what they are feeling, or to hide it for appearances' sake. I started out feeling fairly neutral about the death of Thatcher, and said so; by three days later I was ready to throw an orgy in Grantham High Street just to hit back at all the people who managed to find truly infuriating ways to say basically what I said.
If you're happy about something, for gods' sake *be* happy about it. There's little enough happiness around, and it's soon enough gone. How you express it is nobody's business but yours, as is how you deal with any consequences. Nobody's but yours.
