Power cut

So I'm posting this with the iPad, on the mobile wi-fi (which we got for when we were visiting the DC in Sutton Bridge--where it doesn't work--but which has totally justified itself).

I'm going to be separating DW and LJ, so that domestic woes like this are confined to this blog and writerly stuff stays mostly on DW (though I'll still crosspost when there's an update to the Avevale site, just in case anyone still looks at it at all).

Really down right now. Could someone tell me something nice?

A nice thing:
On the way to work, I have to pause waiting for traffic lights to let me off the motorway. This gives me the inspiring view of the motorway, the hard shoulder, the back of a lorry, and a few half-dead trees between the slip-road and the motorway.
There were long-tailed tits in the trees. I had a couple of minutes to watch them, till the lights changed. Lovely little birds!

And she really liked your arrangements.

I'll be playing bouzouki this weekend for the work Ceilidh band, so I'm getting some practice in.

And of course another nice thing is that pickledginger is visiting me, and looking forward to coming down and seeing you and Jan.

As I said to eintx, I've read your journal entries and comments occasionally, and am now caught up in Tetrad, and we have a lot of mutual friends, so I feel like I've probably come across you at a filk con or something. Except I haven't. I hope our paths will cross one day though. Oh and Mina's song: I now have it on two cds, in two different languages, and it's beautiful.

We have roadworks on the main road that are affecting just the beginnings of all the side roads. Yesterday I went out in my wheelchair and discovered that I couldn't cross one side road because they were working on it. There was a brief discussion among the roadwork men and then they stopped the traffic in both directions so that I could ride down the road at my stately speed of 4mph until I could get back on the pavement again. They did it again on the way back, too.
I chuckled to myself.
