Jan has been looking at houses in the Sutton Bridge area. Not that we could ever afford to move, even if this place was in a saleable condition and we were both well enough to handle the stress, but it's all part of our two-pronged plan; either move to Lincolnshire to be closer to the DC, or move the DC to Wiltshire to be closer to us. My suggestion that we do both was given very short shrift.

But in the spirit of dreaming, I had a look at houses for sale in the Bath area, where the average house price is ten times what it is in Sutton Bridge, and I found this one:

Now I'm sorry, because I know practically everyone who looks at that first picture will be thinking exactly the same about themselves, but to me it is clear that this is quite simply the house I was born to live in. I might not be well enough to clean the house I'm in now, let alone tend the garden we have now, but the universe is just going to have to give me a hand with that as well.

Ha. And pigs will fly. Even given the chance, I would never demean a house like that with my presence, or subject it to my carelessness and disorder.

But It's a nice picture, anyway.

That ... is absolutely splendid. Now, please excuse me while I have a rummage down the back of the sofa cushions to see if I can find a spare £2,000,000!

I suspect 9 bedrooms would not be enough for all of us to join you.

No, but we could hold some fantastic Nycons...

If you are seriously looking for a home for the DC near you, I still have all the links I used for home hunting.

I'd need a rough guide on price, area and any adaptations the DC requires.

Then all we need is to organise a couple of house parties - one at the DC's existing home to prepare for the removal men, and one or two at the new place (unpacking and/or decorating?) (And a hotel for the DC while it's done?)

Well, we're concentrating on the council exchange angle first, sheltered bungalow to sheltered bungalow. As I said, moving for us is a pipe dream right now. She's signed the form; just needs a covering letter and I can drop it in.

If we do manage to get her a place down here, then we'll have to consider ways and means, and will probably scream for help.

Thank you so much for offering. *hugs*

That is lovely, and as soon as I win the lottery I'll move there.

I think you're going to have to fight me for that house.

As a person who is trying to sell my present home and buy another, I wanted to see but was skeptical as to how wonderful it would be.... I am now a believer - absolutely lovely!! And yeah - I'll never live somewhere like that myself - but what lovely dreams :).

Nah, too many awkwardly shaped dippy-in and sticky-out bits for me. And I bet those tall windows lose a lot of heat in the winter...

I'll stick with my dream of a house built along these lines. =:o}
