Our long cloacal nightmare is over
Aug. 17th, 2012 01:16 amIt wasn't the best of times for the kitchen drain to get blocked. Marion was here and wanted clothes washing. The dishwasher (which drains into that drain, as does the washing machine) was full and so was the sink. More to the point, it's been hot and sticky and I had zero energy and the last thing I wanted to do was mess around with caustic soda and boiling water and shovelling mucky water out of a drain.
But I did it. And in the end I put on a rubber glove and shoved my hand down in (and discovered two interesting things; that the drain is slightly deeper than my rubber glove was long, and that caustic soda is still active even after twenty-four hours) and got it clear this evening. The relief is beyond belief, chief.
M was very good about it, anyway, and despite the problems we had a good time. Still knackered though.
