SHE: As long as we are together, it doesn't matter if we're poor.
INSTANT ZOOM on the face of one of the men in the background. It is PERVILIOUS SNOOD, smiling cynically.
SNOOD: HA!!!
IINSTANT ZOOM OUT: SNOOD is now dressed in gorgeous silks, and surrounded by a CROWD similarly attired in a rainbow of colours. He begins to sing and dance to a lively beat, and the CHORUS dance behind him. Again, subtitles.
SNOOD: A man's not a man unless he has money
A man is a monkey without cash
He might as well be dead
If he can't hold his head up
In fancy clothes and really make an impression
Show me a starving man, I'll show you a deadbeat
The poor are only poor because they're fools
The golden rule I've learned
You have to steal it or win it--it can't be earned:
Whoever has the gold makes the rules!
He dances over to the young MAN, while a group of WOMEN encircle the young GIRL.

And a ticket to the sweet life
Jewellery and a big house
Are the only way to happiness
