Freedom, we know, is good, and slavery vile.
Therefore, if God be good, he feels the same,
Our apple choice deserving praise, not blame,
And graduation to the real world; while
In Hell the Devil schemes to make us slaves
To crime, addiction, poverty, disease,
Temptations wrought to bring us to our knees
And drive us helplessly to wretched graves.
Yes, we've done things for which we writhe in shame,
Misused our freedom, but we keep it still.
When Eve, then Adam, tried their new-made will,
God yielded up his right to rule the game.
So even if the outcome's not that nice,
Blame us. Praise God. He handed us the dice.
