This is much like when a chap has been dumped by the woman he loved, and he doesn't want to talk about "that woman" but still wants to know whats happening, who she is seeing, whether her life has gone well/gone crap since dumping him etc.
And there's always the faint hope that there will be "she's really missing you and wants you back" ...
It's Zander's journal, and I think he keeps hoping that someone will tell him "it's all changed, it's back being the show you loved and it wants you back". Or that he can find closure.
Zander still loves "Dr.Who", he just doesn't like what it's become (like Star Trek TOS fans who didn't like Next Gen ... and there were a lot of those at the time ... )
I have friends on LJ who had a romantic relationship end years ago, and still talk about "that woman". And in some cases I just skip posts when they start going on about how much she screwed up their lives or whatever the repeated moan is ... and for that matter, I've been dumped in the past and felt much the same way myself, though in nearly every case I've reconciled with the woman involved (there's one Australian ...) though in one case it took 20 years.
