Still rotating things to say about That Programme (like one of
min0taur's "Meanwhile, in another universe..." posts: "It was amazing when the Beatles reformed, and John and George turned out to be alive after all. Pity they would only play polkas, badly.") and slowly accepting that there is no point in saying them, because it's over. It's worse than last year, because that was just a trial separation, and I had this year to pin my hopes on; maybe the new man would turn it around, bring back some of the magic that doesn't stop working when you turn on your brain, maybe the lousy scripts he produced for RTD were just mucked up along the way.
Noooo. I said it would be more of the same, and it is, and now I'm the little boy at the end of the Emperor's New Clothes if nobody reacted*, if they all kept up the pretence. There's a fairy tale for you, Mister Moffat. Of course, there's always the one about the two men travelling to Samarkand or wherever the hell it was, so I can't even be sure I'm not seeing what I'm seeing because I expected to see it, I can't even have the cold comfort of knowing I'm right.
Oh well. I'll bounce back in a while, I'm sure. And at least the icon has never been more apt.
*Thanks and love to all the people who have commented, here and elsewhere, to say they see it too. I don't mean to imply that I'm alone, just that it feels that way. I know it isn't true.

Date: 2010-05-03 08:16 am (UTC)Haven't seen any of the new series yet - my dad's recording them for us and will send them on when the series is finished.
I'm sorry the whole NuWho phenomenon is upsetting you so much.

Date: 2010-05-03 10:20 pm (UTC)1) They have two more episodes to go of this run.
2) The Doctor has been dithering about sorting out these cracks in space/time and has just concluded that his new companion is intimately connected with it.
3) Instead of sorting that out right away he's going to go to Venice next week and get involved with vampires for some reason.
4) That leaves one episode to sort everything out including whatever is causing the problem, tying up River murdering him and saving the Universe.
5) I do not like the way he kept muttering about history being capable of being re-written: I smell a Bloody Huuuuge Retcon coming up. And the Doctor is rather defined by avoiding tha sort of thing.
Ah well....

Date: 2010-05-05 04:15 pm (UTC)I was rather spooked by the "rewriting time" thing as well -- to me it was implying rewriting his own history (since he has already rewritten others in NuWho). Bets that "it was all a dream"?
(What was that about "tying up River"? Good idea, in my opinion...)
