Hard frost and brilliant sunshine. Not so good for actually going out and doing things in, but gods, how beautiful. Winter is my second favourite season. I may make myself some hot chocolate or something.
Which is your favourite? I think I toss-up between winter and spring, with autumn (if we ever have a proper one these days) running a close third. I was thinking of making hot chocolate this evening, it's a wonderful "comfort drink".
Autumn. Such a relief after summer. Things start to cool down, the wasps and moths and so on start to fade out, and the colours are lovely. Though I take your point: if anyone were in any doubt that we've mucked about with the order of nature, all they'd have to do is look at the poor confused trees not knowing whether to shed their leaves or start blossoming again.
This morning: Hard frost on rooftop across the road. Brilliant sunchine, casting a shadow of our (much higher) roof onto their roof. Gap of about 1.5 tiles between the hard trailing edge of the shadow as it crept rightwards, and the line where the sun-warmed pale frost transitioned into dark sogginess. =:o} Lovely to stand and watch for a few minutes.
Yes, frost is wonderful - that sharp crisp feel to the air.... The air never feels the same here as it does in England, for all it was nice to get back to sunshine today after grey, cold Paris.
