Myst Online: Restoration Experiment (MORE), the not-for-profit revival of Uru Live that Cyan have been working towards since not long after the shutdown of Myst Online: Uru Live, has been "placed on indefinite hold." The concern troll of whom I have spoken has not been able to restrain himself from what, in a more honest person, would have been crowing.
I don't know the reasons for it, and frankly right now I don't care. As far as I am concerned, this is what has happened: I have seen that something bad might happen unless a certain action is taken. I have made my prediction, and called for that action, and argued with those who opposed it. For that, I have been vilified, belittled, and eventually cautioned by forum moderators, and have eventually had to give up the forums for the sake of my own sanity. And what I predicted has come to pass. It happened before, with MOUL, and now it has happened again.
I'm sure that one day I will be ready to talk about "post hoc ergo propter hoc," and logic and all that, and one day the real reason for the abandonment of this project may come to light and it may turn out to be something entirely unrelated. Right now, I am grieving, I am angry, and I am not open to reason. Jahura's "Don't even" icon would be appropriate here.
I don't suppose there will be a next time. Cyan will continue repackaging Myst for absolutely every new electronic appliance that comes along (Myst on your microwave, anyone?) and will fade into obscurity. Or maybe they will come out with a series of stonking arcade games, and everyone will be so glad they've finally found their market. Good luck to them. I'm done with this.

Date: 2008-10-14 02:20 am (UTC)But sad to say, my Mac died earlier this year so I have a Windows now. SL works on it, so Uru might work if it's on again. Not certain but I would need to double check.
