Interesting
May. 30th, 2008 05:26 pmI was watching the extras on the Sweeney Todd DVD the other day, marvelling at how no-one was mentioning the fact that the majority of the woodcut images of him from the penny dreadfuls where he first appeared showed him as the stereotypical caricature Irishman (the name might be a bit of a giveaway as well, but I can see why they might have wanted to soft-pedal that part of the story) and I was amused by the fact that the expert who was absolutely downright certain that Todd wasn't real seemed equally convinced that Sawney Bean was. Oh, and he thought Sherlock Holmes was supposed to have lived at 200 Baker Street.
In other news, we were very happy to be visited on Wednesday by
willibald and
eoforyth and their three young ones. I gather we're all still recovering from the experience one way and another. :) Yes, we can entertain, if only in short bursts. (My long bursts are all in the wash.)

Date: 2008-05-30 05:43 pm (UTC)I have to warn you that in the unlikely event of my passing through your part of the UK, I definitely intend to visit - if only in a short manifestation (approximately 5'3"). Quake, O mortal.
