I've caught the Countess' habit of falling far too deeply asleep at inappropriate times. While I was recording nuWho and Confidential for her to watch later it was suddenly borne in upon me that I needed to be horizontal NOW, just for a little while. I've just woken up, six hours later. So presumably the disc is now full of Top Gear and other delights. Luckily it's rewriteable. Also, Jan has missed a meal thanks to my collapsing, which is not a good.

I went to Waterstones in Trowbridge to get her the fourth Song of Ice and Fire book, mainly to complete her set, and there was this writer chappie sitting at a desk behind copies of a fairly run-of-the-mill looking thriller, looking a bit lost and accosting passers-by. So I bought one, and have started to read it. I can write better English than this fellow (and/or his publisher's proofreading is rotten). I don't know about plotting or character yet, due to aforementioned zonkage, but there is either hope or no hope for me, depending on how I'm feeling at the time.

The latest album from the Tangent is called "Not As Good As The Book" and comes with one, semi-autobiographical I think, written by the lead singer. I haven't heard it yet as such, but I started on the book. It's a strange feeling to read a work of fiction that actually acknowledges the existence of prog rock: I think I've encountered three in my entire life, and one of those was nasty about it.

And, of course, now I'm awake.

I sometimes nap like that, though have to fight it when in charge of young children....

I'm curious to know what book it was. I've come across various books over the past few years that never deserved to make it into print.

Eep! Unintentional dozing can be a messer-upper of things and stuff, that's for sure. (Was fifteen minutes late back from lunch one day recently. My name was mud. I was just hugely relieved I'd woken up after about 20 minutes rather than 2 hours!)

Are you getting enough hours overnight? If you sleep realonably long overnight *and* start napping in the day, it's worth chatting to a Ddoctor about it. (No, not a Doctor, he'd be no help at all. Damn, that capital 'D's become too ingrained a habit...)

It's hard to know what's "enough" when you wake up feeling the same way you did when you fell into bed. I'm guessing it's a side effect either of the depression or the CFS: my sleep patterns are irregular, but I'm fairly sure I'm getting my usual quota of hours.
