We've been watching a couple of series we'd missed recently. One is Stargate Universe, which is dark and bleak and gritty and reminds me very much of Heinlein's "Number Of The Beast." "Hey, we've got this fantastic ship that can nip across the universe in seconds, we can't control it and we're under attack, so let's spend all our time bickering about who's going to be captain." Only the bickering comes with attempted murder, armed mutiny and betrayal. Not hard to see why it didn't measure up to its predecessors.
And the other one is Glee. I'd been ignoring this, but Jan enjoyed Popular, watched Buffy for the high school drama as much as for the hot vampires, and, in short, likes a bit of teen angst, and while I can do without that part, I have to admit the energy and fun of the music has won me over. I just wish they'd do the whole song once in a while.
