Trek Snark and why it fails

Some friends have linked to this article on the new Trek film, notably ericcoleman, from whom I ganked it. So I went and read. By all means, if you haven't, go thou and do likewise, and then I shall regale you with what I thought about it.

(no subject)

I can't get into the nyrond DOT co DOT uk mail at all now--Thunderbird times out and the webmail site won't let me log in. I don't know why, but if I'm getting as many messages as the_magician the inbox may be clogged. If I can't get in by tomorrow I shall raise a ticket, so I shall.

In other news, having shifted furniture all *urk* yesterday, we now have new carpet in the living room as well. It's almost-but-not-quite the same as the hall and stairs one, which was of course discontinued immediately we had done half of what we wanted to do with it--same colour but of lower quality. Hence cheaper, though, which is a goodness. I'd be shifting the furniture back now, except that as I was heading downstairs to start in the Countess called from the studio "Are you going to paint?"

First I'd heard of it. However, on mature consideration she is right as she always is, and now is a unique opportunity to get the walls painted and save myself another shifting job down the line. So I've painted the skirting boards and door frame our usual Buckingham green, and I now have four to six hours downtime while it dries before I can start on the walls. There is always an upside to these things. :)
