Same mistake again
Nov. 27th, 2007 09:24 pmWhenever the creationism/evolution thing comes up, I always hope that someone will want to have an intelligent discussion of the issue (which is of course a social one, and nothing at all to do with which is "true"; that argument was settled long ago) with a view to achieving some mutual understanding and maybe even opening up the possibility of constructive dialogue.
But all anyone ever seems to want to do is replay their old tapes about how the other side is Evul and wants to Take Over The World OMG; or, alternatively, how they're irredeemably stoopid and need to be culled for the good of the species. I could understand the creationists doing that. It saddens me that it's the side I'm supposed to be on.
My mother didn't raise me to be punctuation in someone else's monologue...but I expect I'll keep making the same mistake. After all, one of these days I might be right.
What was that definition of insanity again?
