I've been thinking lately, as many do, about the inevitably forthcoming adulatory Hollywood biopic on Bush--you know, the story of how a poor millionaire's son from the back woods of wherever rose by sheer hard work and honesty to become the leader of the free world, how he held his country firm in the fight against people who are different from us, and so on. And I've been wondering who would play the great man himself. Who could encompass such a demanding role, whose talent could be sufficient to express this man's true stature and breadth? My first thought, the great Ned Beatty, had to be regretfully abandoned--he's probably too old, though happily not yet dead, according to IMDB.

Then it came to me. The one man who could do the job, who could portray this American hero in all his glory on the big screen.

Ladies and gentlemen, I give you William Shatner.

It has oft been noted that Australian cricket captain Ricky Ponting bears an uncanny resemblance to a certain regime change specialist

let google be my witness

he'd have to work on the accent but he'd be a natural for a young Bush.

Shatner seems to have found another source of income.

"the backwoods of wherever"

Technically speaking, there ARE no woods in West Texas.

...and I just heard on the morning news about Shatner's Souvenir Kidney Stone.
Ewwww!

You are a cruel cruel man. I just spewed coffee on my keyboard.

That's... well... it's just perfect! I can see it. Truly.

sigh... Mind you, I rather *like* Shatner now that he seems to have a sense of humor about himself.

Although I hate to say anything from this source is accurate, according to the White House biography of GW,

"President Bush was born on July 6, 1946, in New Haven, Connecticut, and grew up in Midland and Houston, Texas."

So there were woods where he was born. He is a Yankee through and through. I wish people would stop blaming him on Texas.

My parents stayed with his parents in Kennebunkport before Junior was elected to the White House. They came home snortling about some of his father's stories about his son.

Rest assured, I'm sure George Senior has some major problems with Junior's administration.

And BTW, Shatner is TOO fat. Junior spends 4 hours a day working out, at least.
