It's too hot. It feels as though it's been too hot for as long as I can remember, which I know is nonsense. Apparently this wonderful weather is set to continue for at least the next week, after which we might have a bit of a heatwave. So I'm told.

These days, when I'm too hot (by my own standards, which are low compared to almost everyone I know) my brain shuts down. I become uncommunicative (oh all right, *more* uncommunicative) and tend not to think much about what I'm doing. In later stages I black out for minutes at a time, and eventually just fall asleep.

My good and proactive team leader, hearing today of my plight, forthwith found me a fan and an extension wire and established, by burrowing under my desk, that the only available socket was blocked by a leg of said large and ungainly desk. I then proceeded to upset my neighbour, who is pretty much hanging by a thread herself, by trying to run the wire across the back of her desk without asking or even speaking to her first. I have apologised for this, but I still feel bad.

The line to thwap me forms on the right.

It's way above my maximum operating temperature (that DHMO stuff is not only molten but is evaporating!). The only good thing about working is that it's cooler than my house, because we do have a/c at work. But the stairwell at work is horrendous (I must take a thermometer in there to see what temperature it does get to)...

And the worst thing is, if your employer is anything like the type I suspect it takes a mile of red tape to get permission to replace one of the plugs in the wall outlet with a strip switch. My condolences, dear friend...

Hi, Zander...it's Lola. Try combining the heat with hot flashes...I hope I get through that stage soon!
