It's all a matter of pattern matching, isn't it? I do it with the words in the codewords from the Times and Radio Times - when I've finished them, I read the words up and down and across (mostly to check the ones I didn't 'solve', just filled in the letters), and often find connections that make 'sense'. Never tried to predict anything with them, though!
