Excellent and intriguing story, but I hope you'll take another crack at consent and sex. Not every man wants sex with any woman who wants sex with him whenever she wants it.
Getting the silent city to work that smoothly takes, not just getting rid of words, but a sort of coordination which goes beyond food just being there when people want to eat-- I think imagining that sort of telepathy adds to the dreamlike effect, but mileage may vary.
