Home again, home again, swackety-pnool

We got back about half past seven, having returned the DC (and her pussy cat) to her home. I am now feeling a whole lot better, if knackered.
I had a peculiar dream this morning.
Jan and I were somewhere among huge and imposing public buildings, me lugging some ungainly items of music tech, and we had stopped off to surprise
soren_nyrond, who we knew worked in one of said buildings. We spotted him a long way off, and he saw us and ran towards us and there was much hugging and joy, and he invited us into his workplace. We followed him in, past the old guy in uniform at the front desk, and past a room in which Jessica Hynes was asking rhetorically who would want her prestigious and highly-paid job. "Me," I thought, but Soren was forging onward.
He eventually parked us in an empty office and went off to sort something out. I, meanwhile, was somewhat concerned about one of my tech boxes, and seeing a spare socket decided to plug it in to test it. I switched it on, and I believe it worked for a while before suddenly sticking on
"ThisThisThisThisThisThisThisThisThisThisThisThisThisThisThisThisThisThisThisThisThisThisThisThisThisThis..."
I did the usual comedy thing, tried everything to shut it up including unplugging it from the wall and trying to smash it, but it proved impervious and just went on ThisThisThising at full volume. People began to drift in, strangers (though
clothsprogs turned up at one point) and far from being annoyed by the endless ThisThising, seemed to find it restful. An impromptu party developed, with drinks being handed round, and for want of anything better to do I began ThisThising along with it, making harmonies over the bass line, and I remember I had just done "Friday On My Mind" with various people singing the song over a ground of Thises and embarked upon "I Can't Help Falling In Love With You" in the same way, when I suddenly glimpsed the guy in uniform from the front desk looking decidedly disgruntled, and woke up to discover that the CD player we had brought with us to play the Christian Jacq book Jan had borrowed from the library had indeed got stuck on the word "This." How long it had been doing it neither of us is in a position to say.
I'm glad I woke up when I did though. I don't know what the penalty for gratuitous ThisThisThising in a government building is, but I imagine it's fairly stiff.
