Well, at this point I think we could still pull back. No-one has yet given a corporation sovereign status (I'm not including governments in the definition of corporations, despite various parties' attempts to blur the line) and so national/federal law still technically outranks them. They could be reined in, if a country or, better, a federal state were brave enough to attempt it.
But that won't always be the case. I feel the turning point might be soon.
