Meanwhile, back in the real world, we had a policeman come to the door...
The Lada that was our second car, that i totalled back last century, that we got roadworthy again, and that we then couldn't afford to keep on the road at the same time as the car i'd got while the Lada was off the road and that (i admit it) was more comfortable for me to drive, has been sitting in a car park opposite our house for longer than i care to think about. What state it's in i don't know, and i have real trouble even thinking about it because of the guilt of crashing it. Various dodgy-looking individuals have come to the door offering to take it off our hands for banger racing and such, and i've said no, because it's always been my intention to get it back on the road. At some point.
Surprise surprise, the policeman says the car park is not off the road, and therefore we suddenly have a week to do something with the Lada or the council will tow it away and scrap it. Since a car park obviously and blatantly *is* off the road, or it wouldn't be a car park, and since no-one has done anything about this all the rest of the time it's been there, i take this to mean that someone with pull in the police/council has decided that s/he wants rid of our car. i do not intend to let this happen.
i've done some searching around and found some possible sources of parts. i'm going to call our garage on Monday and see if they'd be willing to take it on. Quite apart from anything else, i am not going to bloody well knuckle under and let some faceless bastard rip us off. Anger trumps guilt every time. Is that wrong?
