Zoomquilt and its progenitor

The very interesting Zoomquilt projects, linked to by some on my flist, finally prompted me to track down the short film that I am certain must have given them the idea. I caught it on a late night arty-horror strand on BBC2, was captivated, but could never remember the title or the animator and have looked for it on and off for years.
He is Lejf (or Leif) Marcussen (or Marcusson) and the film is "Den offentlige røst (The Public Voice)" (Denmark, 1988). The camera zooms into a series of paintings by Delvaux, Dali, da Vinci and other artists presumably not all beginning with D, finding one painting nested inside another in exactly the manner of Zoomquilt but with much better pictures.
Yay. Phew. Now all I need is the actual film itself...

The Public Voice
Date: 2007-11-03 09:27 pm (UTC)That is a truly wonderful film.
I saw it on Australian late night art-house TV (SBS used to be a goldmine for film lovers).
And now, about 15 years later the images and sounds still haunt me.
I believe the music was Henry Cow and Luciano Berio.
I do hope you track down a copy.
I am certainly going to try, starting with the Danish Film Institute.
