It occurs to me that I haven't seen anything about this on LJ, so here goes. My lady Helen McCarthy tagged me with this on Facebook:
From yesterday (sorry) till the 16th August, Hodder and Stoughton are accepting unsolicited and unagented submissions in the field of sf and fantasy. Here's the link:

You need to supply the first three chapters or 15k words (definitely no more) of your story, with a two-page synopsis of the whole thing and a single cover page with your personal details. MSS must be Word format, Times New Roman 11 or 12 point, the chapters double spaced but not necessarily the synopsis. Multiple submissions are fine as long as you let them know. Unfinished is fine as long as you let them know. Previously self-published is fine as long as you let them know, previously pro published is a no-no. Send the doc or docx files as an attachment to an email with the subject line "submission - TITLE - Author," with something to the effect of "Hello, this is my story SUCH AND SUCH, total length x thousand words, it was/was not previously self published..." in the body of the email. (I'm trying to cover as many as possible of the questions most frequently asked in the comment thread, since nobody seems to read it before posting...but I'd recommend reading it anyway). The @ddress to send to is hodderscape@hodder.co.uk.
I've got two in, and I'm planning on at least two more. I don't stand an earthly, of course, but you got to play to win, as the man said when he sat down at the exploding piano. There are twelve days to go, so have at it, and if you find a way to synopsise a novel in two pages without reducing the font, widening the margins, or leaving all the important bits out, do let me know. I'm rubbish at it.
