AU thought

I'm a historical ignoramus, so I don't do alternate histories, but it just occurred to me; what would have happened if, in 1776, the British had revolted against George III, and he and his household had been banished to still-loyal America? Could that have even happened?

Happy Independence Day to my friends in and from the former Colonies, who are probably glad it happened the way it did, and rightly so.

Story idea

If I weren't so busy galloping towards the last page of Return to Argenthome right now, I could tell you the story of the man who got so fed up with his roommate making ugly papier-mache models of cartoon characters--Ren and Stimpy, Spongebob, Homer and Marge, and so on--that he strangled the fellow and buried him and his models under the floorboards. It was only when the police knocked on the door that he realised one model still remained, and in his haste he shoved it down next to the hot water pipe. At first he was fine, chatting and laughing, perfectly at ease, but then his neighbour began to run a hot bath, and the smell of scorching paper and glue became too much for him. In a frenzy (or possibly a phrensy) he tore up the floorboards, screaming "It is the heating of his hideous Bart!"

...aren't you glad I'm too busy to tell you that one?
