Two hot days
Jun. 27th, 2011 09:17 pmI don't get on well with hot days.
Today, though, I vacuumed not only downstairs but up. I consider I have Done Well.
We have mostly brought the Countess's blood sugars back under control by means of something called the Flat Belly Diet Diabetes (I think there should be a "for" in there somewhere, but that's probably just me). It works on monounsaturated fatty acids, or MUFAs, and allows for four 400-calorie meals per day, each one including a serving of a MUFA in the form of nuts, seeds, olives, avocadoes, or (in theory) dark chocolate, though we haven't tried that one yet. Unfortunately, what it hasn't appreciably affected is her weight, which dipped a bit, then settled determinedly and started to go up again. We know this pattern. I am holding on like grim death to the little positivity I've gained from the fact that her bloods have returned to normal, and hoping that telling you about it won't jinx it.
There are blossoms on the bean plants, the apple and the rowan are doing their best for us again, and there will be blackberries if not goosegogs this year. Now if only the pear tree would buck its ideas up...
So that's where I am at the moment. Normal service will be resumed when it gets a little cooler.
