The musicking this last weekend with V and C would have gone a lot better if my Cubase had not unexpectedly spat the dummy and refused to load at all till I removed three of my VSTs (fortunately not ones I use much, though I certainly hope I can reinstall them at some point). Still, it was fun, we had a couple of moments of Spontaneous Brilliant Harmonies and I wrote the filk that appeared a few posts back.
I'm not wrong, am I; computers frequently misbehave as a result of no change or event known to the user, and demand completely unfathomable responses before they will resume function. Clarke was wrong. Any sufficiently capricious, unreliable and infuriating technology is what is actually indistinguishable from magic. Advanced? No, that would still be recognisable as technology.
And, of course, I blame quantum bloody mechanics. I've been told often enough that that's what makes my computers work, so it must be what makes them not work as well.
