Someone elsewhere just repeated this truism:
"One definition of insanity is doing the same activity over and over while expecting a different result."
But when I cook, I do the same activity over and over and I always get a different result.
What does that say about the universe, or possibly me?

Feeling chuffed for various reasons
Feb. 26th, 2008 02:55 pmI just had one of those "he shoots, he scores" moments on one of the Uru forums. Someone was dogmatically maintaining that A was not, never had been and never could be B, and I did a little googling and posted up the relevant passage in which the Ultimate Authority stated quite unequivocally that A was and is B*, and that he's quite happy about it. So I'm feeling rather unworthily pleased with myself about that.
A better and more worthwhile reason for happiness is that, after years of me banging on to various doctors about how much pain the Countess is in, they have finally seen fit to prescribe a painkiller that, as of this moment, is doing some good. She slept better last night, and actually had one of the kind of dreams she used to have when her subconscious wasn't completely preoccupied with OW OW OW PLEASE GOD MAKE IT STOP. It had Peter O'Toole in it, and a massively labyrinthine plot (I can tell just from the bits she told me) and she enjoyed it. Praise be to Fentanyl patches, say I, and long may they continue to work.
So. Good day so far.
*"Will be" is still up in the air at the moment and I don't want to jinx it. But it proves we have reason to hope.
