...across the road from us. Quite old, about a foot diameter trunk, don't ask me what sort it was because I lost my I-Spy Book of Trees long before I realised that trees could be interesting, but it was a nice tree and quite healthy.

Yesterday it fell down. Split right in half and fell into the parking space (fortunately unoccupied) next to it. Trees on either side are still intact (and audibly sniggering: trees can be cruel sometimes) but this one encountered a wind with its name on it and went to meet its maker. They were sawing it up and carting it away quite late last night.

In other news, iTunes has started behaving strangely. Has anyone encountered the situation where you launch iTunes, or put in a disc, and your computer reboots? I have. Several times yesterday. I've pruned down my startup list and ditched anything that might look like competition (RealPlayer for one) and now it only does it some of the time, but I'd really like it to, you know, not. I have a bunch of discs I want to import, and I'm not that keen on having to wait for the reboot every single time, or even every fourth time. (Note: while I know it would be well-meant, this is not a cue to tell me how I shouldn't be using iTunes anyway. There is no way I can port every music track and audio play on my drive over to another proprietary package at this late stage. Help and advice, on the other hand, would be gratefully received.)
