This post has me frustrated.
Not so much because it's happening--van Statten was bound to come out of the woodwork sooner or later, and anyone who thought otherwise is even more of a hopeless idealist than I am--but because I can't find an online petition for non-Americans. Think about it. How many websites that you visit every day are US-based? This is going to affect everyone's Web usage, all over the world.
There is of course absolutely zero chance that any elected representative of the American people is going to take any notice of the wishes even of their own constituents, let alone foreigners--big business is calling again, and that anus is just begging to be crawled up. It will happen, barring a miracle, and from next week the internet will no longer be free. It would be nice, however, to have a chance to scream as the hammer comes down.
