The music meme thing.

How much music do I have on my computer? Um, some. Not much, because I don't have an mp3 player yet and I'm not used to having a computer that can play mp3s and, you know, do something else at the same time.
The last CD I bought: Portrait of P D Q Bach. I've had it on tape from a friend for some time, and I like to legitimise my bootlegs when possible. I love the Missa Hilarius: funny-every-time and great music.
The last song I listened to before writing this: track three on "Albedo 0.39" by Vangelis, in the car. Before that it was "War of the Worlds," giving rise to cartoon in the head of female Martians (in headscarves and pinnies) reading the headline "INVASION OF EARTH CANCELLED" and saying "Men--fancy making all that fuss over a cold..."
Five songs or albums I listen to that mean a lot to me: Eek. All music means a lot to me, so this is going to be hard because each one is pushing out five others...
"Amarok" by Mike Oldfield. Best piece of music ever. No contest.
"Ra" by Utopia. They all write and they all sing. I like that in a band. Plus, "Singring and the Glass Guitar" is practically "The Young Person's Guide To The Rock Band."
"The Planets Suite" by Gustav Holst. One of the first three LPs I ever owned, and the first one I really loved as opposed to liking.
"Opus Dei" by Laibach. For the orc in me.
"Olias of Sunhillow" by Jon Anderson. The queen of concept albums, and I love the incantatory quality of his lyrics as well as his use of rhythm.
That's it. Oi. I said that's it. All of you back inside. Stop pushing. I'm not telling you again. Um, we might need some backup here...
Tagging? No. Do or do not, as you please.
