Sorry for not posting this sooner, but we only found out tonight that our car will not be finished with its MOT till Monday at the earliest. We have another car, but that will be going in for its MOT (late) immediately thereafter, and we don't trust it on a long journey when it's technically out of MOT. We cannot do public transport.
So, we will not be at Dixseption.
Sorry, everyone: sorry especially,
telynor and
filceolaire: we really wanted to be there, were planning and everything, and then the mechanic had to go for two weeks intensive physio on his back in mid-MOT, from which he returned today (Thursday). It's been interesting, not knowing one way or the other for the past two weeks. In some ways it's a relief to have it settled, even though not the way we wanted.
Which is one reason for posting this late...because having accepted that it isn't going to happen and made plans accordingly, if some kind and well-meaning friend or friends were to do something ill-advised and quixotic (as has been known in the past) to try to get us there, it would merely throw us into complete confusion. We would love to have made it...but it didn't work out. So, we get to save some money and do some housework and/or writing instead.
We would still love to see anyone who is staying after the con and can get down to us (and this means the place might not look as much like a council rubbish tip as it does right now!) and we are definitely going to make it to Germany in the autumn.
And hopefully we'll get to Soneighteena, or whatever it's going to be called...
