I'm writing this in the office that we should be using as a base right now. Palinurus is back at the palace drafting a press statement to explain why the Hereditary Heresiarch had to be replaced at short notice. Luckily for us, it looks as if the old one might not be coming back: there are subtle giveaway clues like all the church's bank accounts having been withdrawn in small amounts over the last three months and transferred into a private account on Mok-Mok-Shasta-Mok. The place is a recognised clearing house for people who want to disappear.
On the downside is the small but significant detail that I know nothing about the Coprodist Schism of Plut. The standard homeship line on human religions is that they're pretty much interchangeable and all you need to do is mutter the appropriate catchphrases and be disapproving if you catch anyone having fun, but I can't help feeling there's more to it than that.
As for the Reversed Archelaus' Fancy, that's right out of the airlock. I'm a public figure now. The only way I got out to do this was by persuading a visiting lift technician to donate his overall to the church and shinning down a drainpipe. As for Palinurus, there is no way I'm letting him out of my sight now. If he can frod things up for me this badly in a ten-minute shopping trip, what couldn't he do if I gave him free rein and
Oh frod.

Palinurus again ::
Date: 2006-02-08 12:28 pm (UTC)They just walked in -- three of them, in sombre dress, with faces that could freeze a gynboc at three hundred paces -- sat down, and started talking.
How did I know that they were Schismists hoping to get some authority for their latest "Crusade Against Backsliding, Reconflationism And Nostic -- " (the initial 'G' appears to have slipped in the local orthography) "-- Knowledge".
And all I did was nod when they said 'Was I paying attention?' But as soon as I did they were huzzahing and saying that I'd endorsed their plan, and demanding that I sign the authorisation for the launch of the Crusade at noon.
I've never been good when I'm *outnumbered* ...
