It wasn't that Aelya had anything against those bandits in particular -- indeed, many would have called what she did 'banditry' ... when they weren't calling it bloody-minded and chaotic murdering. But everyone needed a hobby, and a way to make a living, and Aelya's was killing people. Sometimes for money, sometimes because they had got in her way while she'd been trying to earn money. And sometimes for the h*ll of it. These three fell into the last category. They were consistent, they weren't too heavily-armed, and they gathered together nice little piles of loot which she could take away from them. Also, at some point the Whiterun Watch were going to work out that whoever had been winnowing through their local Council was living in the vicinity and it would be handy if she had suitable fall-guys available, since she knew that the Temple of the Badgers would stop paying her if people-in-general worked out that they were the ones behind the assassinations. Mind you, since she also knew the home addresses of the Chief Badger and his two deputies, and of the Temple's Treasurer, who had the last key to the Strongroom, she reckoned she had one final pay-day in the (notional) bank anyway.
