Sigh.

Trying to find a way to convert an NWC file to a PDF file for emailing, I stupidly downloaded and installed something I should not have, and the laptop is borked. Its own screen is black, but the connection to the telly is working. Managed to get into safe mode, and Malwarebytes Free is having a bash at it now. Thank frod I put the episodes up yesterday.

Ain't life a hoot.

EDIT: Malwarebytes did the trick. Avoid installing anything that offers you something called Vosteran as an optional extra. It's not that optional, and it's nasty. And if you already knew this and thought everyone did, please don't laugh at me too hard. We learn by doing.

Sympathy, and glad it's getting sorted.

I did the same with a program that claimed to identify out of date drivers by the way, last week, and got it sorted. Not just you.

I didn't know this and am grateful for the heads-up.

Glad everything is working again!

I got it on my work laptop when trying to install Winzip. It appears to corrupt explorer.exe. You can get it to stop by using Ctrl/Alt/Del, starting Task Manager and ending the explorer process, then opening a new example. That means you can then uninstall whatever it was that put it there...
