Each post contains a sample from the beginning of the episode, and each episode contains a link back to this post or its equivalent on Dreamwidth. This will give me very important feedback on who's reading what, so that I know what readers enjoy and would like to see more of. If I can work out how to link back to Facebook as well, I will, though it's already a bit of an old country dance putting everything in place.
There are three main reasons why I run Avevale. The first and most important is to give people a chance to read my stories (and Sam's), and I know that's happening, because I can see the number of hits change. The second is to give people a chance to comment, because storytelling is potentially as interactive as any form of entertainment. When I used to just put up chunks as LJ posts I got three or four comments every time, and sometimes I used to post twice or three times a day, and I loved that. And the third is to give people a chance to donate in return for the stories, and thus make me feel like a little less of a charity case. I wouldn't be here, let alone be able to go to cons, without the help of astonishingly generous friends, but it's an ongoing struggle that never gets any easier, and my stories are the only way I know to give something back.
Right now, with the three stories on the go (and I'm already thinking about starting something else in parallel with the Mordecai story when OIK winds up in a few weeks' time), it probably adds up to the equivalent of a fifty-page weekly magazine, with only one advertisement (this one). That's worth thinking about.
So next time you read an episode, do think about leaving a comment. Thank you.
