Eat the meat

You are a senior White House official, delegated to negotiate with a visiting foreign dignitary. According to the protocol of the dignitary's nation, in order to be found fit to negotiate, you must first eat a ceremonial meal with him. The meal consists of some meat, under a pile of thin Chinese-style pancakes, drizzled with some kind of sauce and piled with at least two kinds of vegetable. Ritual demands that you give each piece of the vegetable, wrapped in the pancakes, to the people on your left and right, and if you cannot eat the meat before the vegetables and pancakes are all gone you are not worthy to dine with the big guy.

That was the situation I was in in the rather West-Wingy type of dream from which I just woke. Of course, the dignitary got kidnapped by terrorists and there was a whole lot of other stuff going on, but I'm proud to report that I had just asked the cultural adviser "would it be okay if I just flipped the whole thing over on the plate?" and he had just twinkled at me in a sort of Morgan Freeman way and nodded.

My subconscious seems to be trying to plot. Should I worry?

If it tasted good, I'd take the idea and run with it.

More or less what Richard of Gloucester said. Plus: If you can use the plot element, use it; otherwise, let it go.

Only if it's plotting *against* you...
