Summer's well and truly over...

...and as the Countess had predicted, the conservatory still isn't finished.

The electrician came yesterday and did as much as he could. Unfortunately the garden-wrecking builder who was supposed to come back and do the plastering and the flooring is apparently in hospital with a broken ankle having fallen off a ladder, and this huge national company (oh, froddit, it's Everest, all right? EVEREST. I think they've worn out my discretion by now. Everest. They are CRAP. Make a note and tell your friends) don't have anyone else who can do it. So we're stalled yet again, with all the living room furniture shifted out of the way and covered in dust sheets, and it will probably be yet another week.

I wish the builder all the best and hope he gets better soon, assuming what I've been told is actually true and they haven't just double booked him. But my bitterness about this knows no bounds.

Write to Watchdog. You've a right to good service, and you're not getting it. You and the Countess have a right to a livable home, and it's not happening. If I were you I'd be on the phone every day demanding they get someone to finish the job pronto - and that they restore your garden to a decent state. After all the work you put in on it, that's just...

Here, have the lump hammer.

I think the word "compensation" should be featuring heavily in your next conversation with them.
