Early warnings
This posting by email will probably have to stop soon. At which point, with the last of my outlets gone, I will begin to go quietly insane.
Just thought you ought to know.

Is it time? Do you have a huge commute? I write w/ pencil/paper when all else fails and then type it back in over again.
I am trying to work with voice recog. software as I have difficulty with my hands and wish I didn't have to risk my wrists any more than I have to.
Please let me know why you are feeling like this. I just went thru a really rough patch and my friends came out of the woodwork... :) Tag. you're it.

Typically, management will look the other way if it doesn't interfere with work and not an everyday thing. If you're having an emergency it's-either-this-or-get-my-shotgun-out-of-the-trunk-of-my-car moment, of course the posting would be the preferable method of stress management. If you're having a crisis (work or domestic) and someone who can help is most efficiently reached by E-mail, by all means.
But the general rule is, if it takes more than five minutes to post or compose that E-mail, or something more pressing is set aside so you can finish, and it's going on almost daily, then that's kind of frowned upon.
So I wouldn't necessarily say it has to stop. But if you manage to keep a handle on it and not let it override your work mode you should be okay.

The laptop idea, or something less clunky and easy for people to knick/damage, sounds like a good route if we can find one for you...

I owe you a thing. Are you established in Cheltenham now?

There's been a warning that the bosses are going to be clamping down on all "inappropriate behaviour" (i.e. evidence of intelligent life) during office hours, and non-work-related email is one area. It isn't the end of the world. Before we had web access at work I used to write my writings in a notepad in among doing stuff, and I can always go back to that. It's the getting it out there that I'll miss. But I can still post from home, so it's not a total blackout.
Junk computers...I've used nothing else for the last twenty years, and been extremely grateful. Junk laptops tend to be scarcer over here.:) But that, as I've said, isn't the issue. I've just been spoiled, and now it's over.
Thank you to all for undeserved expressions of sympathy and encouragement. I'll keep them for when a real crisis happens.

But you still deserve hugs, just because. (((((Zander)))))
Not acceptable...
