I'm pretty sure that most professional writers don't do every-day-work for two, including caring for someone (like doing the cooking, sorting out the medicine for a week in advance and helping her take it several times a day, helping her shower, taking her to doctor's appointments, picking up prescriptions and meds, rescueing her computer and reading out subtitles to Japanese movies :) )! I don't know who does Douglas Adams's household, but it's probably not Douglas Adams.
