That's what we used in our garden in Mass. The cheapest beer we could buy. Shallow dishes with straight sides so they could climb up and take a dive -- I don't know if that was necessary, but it worked. Put 'em out at evening; in the morning, empty remaining beer and dead slugs into the garbage.
