First impressions

New music: naff. May grow on me, but I doubt it.

New title sequence: logo fine on black background but illegible against vortex. Not impressed with forethought there.

New Doctor: Tennant with added Tigger (has child not read Milne?). Less working-class, but still not Time Lord.

New companion: Not from London, which is a plus. Again they've found one with a mind of her own, unlike all the previous ones. Why is a woman with a mind of her own supposed to be so strange? BARBARA had a mind of her own.

New TARDIS: better, but still doesn't look like a place anyone would choose to live.

Pre-owned plot: Girl in Fireplace crossed with Smith and Jones. Nothing new here. And again, "I'm the Doctor" and they run. The rest of the episodes are going to be quite short if that's all it takes.

Overall: not convinced. But will probably keep watching for a few episodes at least. Cue entire flist not being surprised. :\

Oh, and...I was right, wasn't I?

It did to me. The console room looked like a room, which meant there were other rooms, not just garage/warehouse space. Later, when we saw some of the hinterlands, it didn't matter that they were so peculiar because there were habitable rooms.

The new one is less grotty than its predecessor, though, which is a step up.

I think we're going to have to agree to differ on that one. The Tardis never looked to me like anyone could live in it, or would want to.

There have been episodes over the years where we saw other parts of the TARDIS. I remember William Hartnell's Doctor sending Vicki to fetch a glass of water from the drinks dispenser, which was outside the control room, and she disturbed Barbara, who was doing some sewing.

I know. I'm old. :)
