First impressions

New music: naff. May grow on me, but I doubt it.

New title sequence: logo fine on black background but illegible against vortex. Not impressed with forethought there.

New Doctor: Tennant with added Tigger (has child not read Milne?). Less working-class, but still not Time Lord.

New companion: Not from London, which is a plus. Again they've found one with a mind of her own, unlike all the previous ones. Why is a woman with a mind of her own supposed to be so strange? BARBARA had a mind of her own.

New TARDIS: better, but still doesn't look like a place anyone would choose to live.

Pre-owned plot: Girl in Fireplace crossed with Smith and Jones. Nothing new here. And again, "I'm the Doctor" and they run. The rest of the episodes are going to be quite short if that's all it takes.

Overall: not convinced. But will probably keep watching for a few episodes at least. Cue entire flist not being surprised. :\

Oh, and...I was right, wasn't I?

I'm not seeing him as the Doctor yet, but I am recognising everything else.

Am hopeful.

I flipped over to it straight from the middle of the third Harry Potter film on ITV. That seems to have been the ideal appetiser. =:o}

One quibble: The TARDIS apparently is bigger than we see (remember the wardrobe). Given that and the reference to the library (and the random swimming pool?), I have no trouble believing that the control room is only a working area and that sleeping, eating, and other downtime happens elsewhere.

Still not sure Eleven doesn't have a Hot Wheels racecar bed, but at least we got hints of gravitas. And yes, it would be nice if he had had to call in the actual cops (i.e., Judoon) rather than just say "Boo!"

Must make DW icon.

Now off to start a rewatch of Series 14 (Four, from The Masque of Mandragora to The Talons of Weng Chiang -- possibly my favorite ep of all time).

But, but the Tardis never looked like a place anyone would live. Exist for a short space of time, yes, but not live - even with the beds and so on during the Tegan/Adric etc. period.
