Thank you to all for birthday wishes!

It's a sobering thought, to paraphrase Tom Lehrer, that when Phil Ochs (who apparently shares my birthday) was my age he had been dead for seventeen--sorry, eighteen years. We lesser artists face creative burnout with more equanimity.

It's good to have survived another year, and I put it down to the wonderfulness of the Countess, and the love and support of my friends, without whom I would have no friends. Thank you all, and let's hope 2009 is a better year for all of us.

You, too. *hugs*

Are you feeling a bit better now?

Well, repeated applications of Lem-Sip are keeping the dreaded snot monster at bay, though it does mean I can't take the co-codamol as well which is a pain (er, literally). All is balance, as they say. My main problem at the moment is soreness around the ribs caused by coughing, which makes it worse when I do and adds to the general achiness and incapability.

Jan's cough is far worse than mine and her voice has gone, but today I have actually had some horizontal time myself, which is a rarity.

We'll see how it is on Monday and consider trying to get hold of a doctor in the run-up to Christmas if it seems indicated. It's not the bug itself that worries me, it's the secondary whatnots to which we are both more than ordinarily prone.
