(no subject)

I've just (very trepidatiously) edited a Wikipedia page, having recently re-read Moorcock's The Final Programme and thus being aware that, in my edition at least, it was spoiler... ).

If it's been changed in a later edition (I know some things have been), I expect it'll get edited back, but I went back to the relevant page to make sure I was right, and I was.

Still can't get over a feeling that I'm trespassing, though.

Comedy: back to the solo voice

This Fry and Laurie sketch popped up on Making Light, and it reminded me of what I thought about it when I saw it, and again when I read it in the script book.

It didn't work as well as it could have. I could have done that better.

Looks like self-publishing's a no go as well.

So, just for the ducks of it, I gathered three of my not-long-enough-to-be-novels too-long-to-be-short-stories stories--The Sallow Man, The Shop and the Truesingers one--together into one two-hundred-page MS, went to lulu.com, and priced it up.

Cheapest possible option, best part of seven quid per book. No way I can make anything on top of that. No way anyone would buy it anyway.

It's nice, I suppose, to know that I was right to put them up on the site for nothing, as that seems to be the only way anyone is going to get to read them. I just hope they're being enjoyed.

Done it

I feel very silly.

I'm currently debating the whole distribution thing--Lulu has two options, one of which costs money and is better and one which doesn't and isn't (e.g. if I choose the free one the thing only goes to Amazon in America as opposed to international Amazon and "a lot of other online retailers").

I'm sure I could have done this a whole lot better if I had given it a bit more time, but I'm thinking of it as a first try and next time will be better. Maybe.

I'll be taking these stories down from the site from tonight on, for obvious reasons.

Thanks to all for encouraging words.
